Bowling Club

The month of June brought a challenge to the club’s players, providing the wettest in club memory.

Undaunted, members were still able to continue their matches by rescheduling, and in fact, only one or two arranged matches were affected.

One of the affected matches was the event of the Cyril Hudson Cup, which was played for the following week and won by Mick Williams, with Brian Williams as runner-up.

The Men’s Doubles, held on 24 June, was won by Ron Rees who has always set the bar high, and is a difficult player to beat, with runner-up Mick Williams, a formidable player.

The Bill Gaskell Centenary Shield was played for on Saturday, 1 July, when past president and chairman Bill Gaskell, awarded the shield to worthy winner, Ron Rees.

Runner-up was Bryan Gatehouse.

The club has welcomed visitors throughout the month and is always happy to meet new players.
