Closure

AFTER some 20 years in the café business, Arthur (Nash) Cooke Thomas has retired having spent the last 10 years at the High Street Café by the council offices having previously spent the same total of years in the trade at another High Street location and he is wished a long and happy retirement, well earned.

Bowls

THIS has been busy period for the local bowlers having beaten Bangor to reach the semi final of the Gwynedd Cup where they will meet Llanrwst.

Mike Burgoyne and Stephen Jones having won three games were beaten in the semi final stages of Doubles Competition held at Chirk and the club had a well earned 6-6 draw away at Denbigh but lost the aggregate by six.

Veteran players Doug Hughes and Gwyn Morgan were among their winners with Dafydd and Barry Hughes, Mike Burgoyne and R Elwyn Jones.

On Saturday they suffered a 10-2 league defeat at Bangor with Jason Hughes and Mike Burgoyne their winners.
