Choirs
THE Moelwyn Male Choir, conducted by Sylvia Ann Jones and accompanist Wenna Francis Jones, were in concert at Betws y Coed on Friday evening.
Then on Saturday the Brythoniaid Choir, conducted by John Eifion and accompanist Elizabeth Ellis, were one of eight male choirs who competed at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod and the winning choir was Froncysyllte with choirs from Germany and Singapore in 2nd and 3rd places.
Library
ON Friday between 3.30pm and 4.30pm there are board games for the family.
Next Wednesday from 10am till 1pm there is help with tablet and computers problems and from 10.30am till 11.30am on the same day a colouring for relaxation session is available.
Bowls
RICHARD Elwyn Jones was a member of the Gwynedd Veterans Bowling side who took on the Wrexham Veterans at Garden Village on Monday and he lost a close match 21-19 and his side also lost.
On Saturday the Blaenau side beat Llanrwst at home by 7-5 in a North Wales League A match with five winners Martin and Jason Hughes, Mike Burgoyne, Stephen Jones and Emlyn Williams but the were awarded the extra 2 points for the best averages.
Trains
THE Conway Valley rail line between here and Llandudno is to get former London Underground Class 230 D-Trains trains operating on the line soon.
On 24 July, the steam train the Welsh Mountaineer will make a journey here and back to Llandudno Junction which will see the trains enthusiasts turning out to see this train and the time is due here is not yet to hand.
Angling
THIS Friday evening fly fishermen only will be competing for the annual Emrys Evans Cup at Gamallt Lakes between 8pm and midnight.
Meeting
REPRESENTATIVES from the Wales Slate World Heritage Site Nomination project team were unable to attend a Ffestiniog Town Council meeting.
In the meantime, town councillors have been invited to attend the Welsh Slate Information Event which is on during the Bro Festival Slate Festival on next Monday, 16 July, and the town council has also donated £750 towards the festival.
Plaque
A MEMORIAL plaque for soldiers who died in World War 2 and which was formerly at Salem Chapel has been offered to the town council and if it could be placed in a prominent position in the council offices and this matter will be discussed further at the Council’s Amenities Committee.
