Fires
TOWN councillors heard how deliberate fires had been started at the skate park and Cae Bryn Coed where the youth shelter was the target.
In the meantime, the council is to ask the police to speak with the young people who use both sites regarding this matter.
Buses
LIZ Saville-Roberts MP has received a letter regarding the Traws Cymru bus services which reported that Gwynedd Council officers are now in contact with Conwy Council and the Welsh Government in relation to the provision of the Traws Cymru service which would run from Llandudno to Dolgellau and through Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Bowls
BLAENAU club were beaten 10-2 at Conway in a North Wales League match on Saturday with Geraint Williams and Stephen Jones their winners and hey are home to Min y Don.

Choir
SYLVIA Ann Jones conducted and was the accompanist for the Moelwyn Choir’s concert at Betws y Coed on Friday evening and the compere was Gareth Griffiths.

THE Maenofferen Gallery hosts an exhibition by Chris Clunn and the creative work by Sian Northey, Mari Gwent and the pupils of the Bro Hedd Wyn, Manod and Moelwyn Schools until 15 September, and admission is free during the library’s opening hours.
Planning
THE council has no objection to the following planning applications: 1. Erect a single storey extension with balcony above with access at 1 Commercial Square; 2. A Quarryman Bar and Grill at the former HSBC Bank; 3. Construction of a two-storey on rear of 13 Dorvil Street; 4. Construction of detached garage at 15 Haulfryn Terrace.
As for the proposed two-storey extension on side of 1 Bron Ddwyryd, and a construction of a new two-storey holiday unit, as well as a detached double garage and a domestic wind turbine, the council is to ask Gwynedd Council for further information regarding the turbine and also to inform them that there is Japanese Knotweed on this land and that the development is close to a river.
Fun
AN Elvis 60s fun day was held at Diffwys on Sunday afternoon with guest performer Wynne Roberts entertaining the audience with Elvis songs and the local Elastic Band group also took part.
There were stalls, raffles, fancy dress and other activities to enjoy and the proceeds of the event will be donated to the district’s Specialised Dementia Day Services.
Soccer
AFTER their last two friendly matches at Dolgellau in midweek which ended in a 6-4 win and then a 2-1 win at Nefyn on Saturday, the Blaenau Amateurs FC open their new Welsh Alliance Division 2 season with a home match against Llanefydd on Saturday.

THERE will be a book sale this month.
On Fridays there are board games for the family with other events taking place which children can attend and take part.
Elected
CLLR Glyn Daniels has been elected to represent the town council onto the Ynni Twrog and the council has donated £50 to the group.
