Siop Siarad
THE local social group for Welsh learners and speakers will be holding its August meeting at the Bridge Café at 11am on 25 August.
All are welcome to attend for an informal chat over a cup of coffee and cake.
Maenofferen Gallery
THE gallery hosts an exhibition by Chris Clunn and a display of creative work by Sian Northey, Mari Gwent and the pupils of Bro Hedd Wyn, Manod and Moelwyn schools until 15 September.
Admission is free during library opening hours.
Moelwyn Choir
THE choir, conducted and accompanied by Sylvia Ann Jones, were in concert at Betws y Coed on Friday evening. The compère was Gareth Griffiths.
Town council
THE town clerk had a meeting with a representative from North Wales Fencing Company to discuss the removal of the fence by the park’s café to facilitate better use of the land there.
A quote was requested for moving the existing fence and the purchase of additional panels, plus a quote for a smaller fence and gate.
It was stated that the bowling club is hoping to stage a fun charity competition and that the owner of the café there is hoping to organise a five-a-side football competition during the summer.
A number of footpaths are to close for six months while new electricity cables are laid.
Footpath 4, which runs from the north end of Dduallt station to Fron, Tanygrisiau; Footpath 91 which runs from Footpath 90 to Pont y Friog on to Footpath 93 near Afon, and which runs from Bryn Elltyd to Footpath 92 top of the old incline south-west of the Stwlan Lake will be closed for up to six months for the cables to be installed by the Tanygisiau Power Station.
Bowls
DAFYDD Hughes and R Elwyn Jones were members of the Gwynedd side that finished second to Wrexham in the Welsh County Veterans competition.
As for the Blaenau side, they had a fine 8-4 win at Beaumaris in a league match, with their winners being Iwan Vaughan, Stephen, Ken and Gwyn M Jones, Martin Hughes and Mike Burgoyne.
They are home to Colwyn Bay British Legion this Saturday.
The local green was the venue for the Gwynedd Cup final on Thursday evening where Llanrwst beat Llanfair PG.
This Sunday a charity match will be held there with the hope of making it an annual event.
