Fields

DISCUSSIONS have taken place between Ann Coxon (the town clerk), Meilir Huws (property department manager ) and Lowri Cadwaladr Roberts (senior estates surveyor at Gwynedd Council) regarding land in the area for which there are no deeds but Gwynedd Council assumes are the property of the town council.

The town clerk will need to contact the former town clerk regarding the town council’s ownership of these properties, as between the two there is 40 years of service in the post, and then arrange a meeting with a solicitor to create new deeds.

Discussion also took place regarding the transfer of the Oakeley Square field and the skate park as a whole to the town council instead of paying a small rent each year, which costs much more for the two councils to administer the charges.

It has also been agreed that Gwynedd Council will proceed with the transfer of the said field and park to the town council as an agreement on this was reached in 2016.

Angling

DAFYDD Williams chaired the annual general meeting where in welcoming the news of more junior members he also told the meeting that more senior members are needed to run the club.

He went on to thank the officials for their work and the treasurer stated that it had been a good year financially with the increase in the number of visiting anglers.

There had only been two competitions with Wyn Davies winning the McAlpine Junior Cup and Calfyn Evans the Emrys Evans Memorial Cup.

On the matter of trophies, an appeal was made for those with any Cambrian Angling trophies to return them.

The meeting decided that the annual fishing costs for locals will be the same with adults paying £40 for a season, concessions are £33 and juniors £15.

As for the visitors, their annual fee will be £60, weekly £48, and day £16 and their juniors will have to pay £31 annually, £18 weekly and day £7.

The officials were then re-elected: chair Dafydd Williams; vice-chair - Bleddyn Williams; secretary - Darren Williams; assistant secretary - Geraint Williams; treasurer - Brian Jones; press - Meirion Ellis; and the committee members are Mel ap Meirion, Wyn Davies, William and Elwyn Ellis, Adrian and Elgan Jones, Eurwel Thomas, Dafydd and Euron Roberts, Eifion Owen and John Heath.

The meeting ended with the chair thanking all who had attended and wished all a good fishing season to come.
