THE latest community news from around Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Dref Werdd
IN A recent statement the Blaenau Ffestiniog-based Y Dref Werdd project manager Gwydion ap Wynn outlined what they have done and what is needed for the future of the project, which is in its second year.
They believe that the lottery money they received is being used for the benefit of the people of the area.
The project has helped many to save substantial amounts on their energy bills.
This year, more emphasis will be put on food waste and they will work with local groups to raise awareness of this matter.
They have been busy with several environmental projects which included clearing rivers and rhodedendron, and the destruction of Japanese Knotweed.
There have been volunteers who have given hours of their time in helping with those projects, but more volunteers are always welcome.
There have been successful sessions with local schools and Dref Werdd are in the process of developing a community garden near the allotments site and a safe area for children to play at Hafan Deg.
