Footpaths
JOHN Evans is the new footpath walker for the local council. He’s been thanked by them for his timely reports about defects on the footpaths, which included a broken handrail on a bridge behind the Tanygrisiau power station.
The council is to send a template for the annual report on footpaths to John Evans, as they require an annual report by the end of February, and to ask Gwynedd Council to repair the broken handrail.
Choirs
RHIANNEDD y Moelwyn ladies choir conducted by Sylvia Ann Jones and accompanist Anwen Davey were placed joint fifth in defending the trophy they won in last year’s North Wales Choral Festival at the Venue, Llandudno on Saturday. Eleven choirs from all parts of the UK took part, with the winners being the Entourage choir.
Saturday, 12 November, Côr y Brythoniaid will join up with Côr Godre’r Aran and the Ar ôl Tri choir to entertain the crowd before the start of the Wales vs Argentina Rugby International at The Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.

Lights
IT has been stated by the council that new Christmas lights are needed. Three councillors met up with representatives of Blachere Illumination Company to discuss their purchase.
The council discussed quotes, and they have made enquiries from private companies regarding quotes for installing and removing the Christmas lights.
Unfortunately, due to the style of the town, the lights get their power from lighting columns and private companies who do not have the authority to connect the columns.
The council is to increase its budget to £13,000 so that new lights can be purchased for Church Street to replace the old garlands.
Coffee morning
ST David’s church’s coffee morning is to be held Friday morning, 11 November, between 10am and noon, not on Remembrance Sunday as was first stated. The proceeds will be donated to local charities.
Toilets
THE council has made a contribution of £4,000 towards ensuring the public facilities in the town are kept open, and Gwynedd Council has made a request for further information regarding the intention of the town council.
The result is that the town council is to secure an agreement with Gwynedd Council about extending the toilets’ opening hours until after the last train leaves town, especially during the summer season and to request a machine for charging for using toilets.
Lights
WITH a pile of relevant catalogues in the council office, there has been a suggestion that the council might consider arranging a competition through schools in 2017 to design Christmas lights for other areas of the council.
