Constituencies
REGARDING a review of parliamentary constituencies the town council has felt that due to the rural characteristic of north Wales that any changes to the boundaries of existing constituencies should be opposed. It was also felt that larger constituencies would be a strain on the MP’s time and their ability to hold regular surgeries with the electorate more difficult.

Pavements and paths
FOLLOWING complaints from the public about slippery pavements in the town, especially the new pavements and the sidewalk near Y Cwm, the council is to contact Gwynedd Council about the matter.There is talk about a slate path being introduced and it has been resolved that the ward councillors to obtain a better copy of the route map that indicates exactly where the Slate Path crosses this area and to find out who are the landowners whose land the proposed route crosses.

THE Maenofferen Gallery hosts a range of works in mixed media by Catherine Rose Hannah Hession until 24 February. Admission to the gallery is free during the library’s opening hours.
Bowls
HAVING been involved with the Gwynedd, Merioneth and the Blaenau Ffestiniog bowling clubs for over 30 years, Dafydd Hughes was last week elected as the Gwynedd League’s president for the next two years having previously been its vice-president. Both he and R Elwyn Jones from the Blaenau Club attended the league’s AGM at Bethesda where he was installed as president and which also means the Blaenau Club will host the Gwynedd Cup for the next two years. Donation THE town council has donated a sum of £300 to the local Ysgol Feithrin.

Advice
A REPRESENTATIVE of the Citizens Advice Bureau will be present at the library on Mondays between 10am and 1pm ready to give relevant advice where needed and no appointments are needed to attend.

Siop Siarad
THE local social group for Welsh learners Siop Siarad, will be commencing its regular fourth Saturday of the month “coffee and a chat” meetings on Saturday, 28 January, at 11am at the Bridge Cafe. All learners and fluent Welsh speakers are welcomed to attend.
Councillor
AT the monthly meeting of the town council, Ysgol Maenofferen headmaster Gareth Roberts was welcomed by the town council as the new councillor for the Diffwys and Maenofferen ward, and was congratulated on his new post at a Dolgellau school which he will be taking on after Easter.
Salt
ALTHOUGH the cost of servicing salt bins does vary greatly, Gwynedd Council is now able to confirm the following: 1.Servicing all salt bins within this community before the winter at £40 per bin to start summer 2017; 2. Refilling salt bins at the request of the community during the winter at £60 per bin between 1 October and 30 of April.
