Côr Rhiannedd
MUI Excelente!
An excellent evening was had by all at the Cellb on Saturday night.
Côr Rhiannedd hosted a Tapas and Tune night which included an array of local musical talent.
The show commenced with the choir singing a mix from traditional welsh songs to west-end show stoppers they welcomed to the stage an up and coming young duo Tomos Heddwyn and Awel Jones who wowed the crowd with their duets, solos and harmonies and had a pleasant surprise of Lowri Jones coming to accompany her sister in a duet.
Tomos Heddwyn, 16, is one to watch, he has won at the Urdd and won second place at the National Eisteddfod this summer.
He shared the stage with the ladies choir to sing Robat Arwyn’s Anfonaf Angel and Eryr Pengwern which received a standing ovation.
By now everyone had an appetite and were ready for their tasty tapas which did not disappoint!
And in the second half came the local singer songwriters, fresh from singing at Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff with Yr Oria’, came Garry Hughes and to close the evening, taking time out of his album release, was Gai Toms.
All this was made possible from money received from Blaenau Ffestiniog’s Coop local community fund and the choir would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you.
