Senior Citizens
THE Penglais School Senior Ensemble were welcomed to a meeting at the end of March. An entertaining afternoon followed with a selection of music from jazz to classical performed by the talented students including a piano solo and two guitar pieces.
On 13 April Joy opened the meeting by telling members the sad news of the death of John Jackson. John and his wife Doreen joined the group earlier this year and had been to six meetings. A short period of silence followed in John’s memory.
Details were finalised for the coach trip to Bala and Trawfynydd at the end of April which will be a scenic coach ride returning through the Berwyn Mountains.
The Charities Fair on 29 May was also discussed and items requested for our stall including books, puzzles, bric a brac and jewellery.
The group then welcomed Prof Barry Thomas who gave an interesting talk on the Canary Islands with slides illustrating their volcanic history and the vegetation specific to the islands.
The next meeting in Borth Hall will be at 2pm on 11 May when Helen Palmer, county archivist, will speak on Childhood through the Ages.
