G?yl Ceiriog Festival

THE Welsh Society of Caersws is inviting people to Caersws Village Hall for their bi-annual Ceiriog Festival, on Saturday afternoon, 22 September.

Cyril Jones will talk about the life and work of Ceiriog and in particular his connection with the Dylife area. Harvey Lloyd will sing some of Ceiriog’s songs, and the local Primary school children will sing one of his poems, along with Triawd Hafren who will be reading some of his well-known poems.

A harpist will play melodies while tea and cake is being served by members of the committee. There will also be an exhibition of Ceiriog’s work, old books and extracts of the periodicals associated with Ceiriog, organized by Newtown Library.

The meeting will start at 2pm in the hall, but at 1pm there will be an opportunity to go to visit the old station where Ceiriog used to be stationmaster and believe it or not the ticket office is just as it was in the 19th century. It’s well worth seeing.
