Lantern parade

A GIANT lantern parade is planned for Cardigan again this Christmas, along with a spectacular fireworks display.

Community arts organisation Small World Theatre has joined forces with Cymdeithas Aberteifi Society and members of Cardigan’s Town Centre Partnership to create a magical spectacle and an event to be remembered.

Last year, the town was illuminated by 350 lanterns parading along the high street towards the River Teifi.

This year, the organisers expect an even bigger spectacle and encourage the public to join one of the four free public lantern-making workshops at Small World Theatre to be held on 5, 12, 19 and 26 November.

This year’s Winter Giant Lantern Parade in Cardigan is supported by Awards For All funding from the National Lottery, and Cardigan Traders are collecting money to provide an exciting fireworks display on the quayside – so look for the collection tins in local shops.

The Winter Giant Lantern Parade is just one of the events happening during Cardigan’s annual Festive Fortnight, which runs from 2 to 17 December.

Expect a packed programme of special attractions and events for residents and visitors alike.

Highlights include a two-day Christmas fair at Cardigan Castle, late-night shopping, concerts, live music, pop-up events and parties.

Makers, creatives, community organisations and traders organising events in the town during Festive Fortnight are invited to submit their events to Cymdeithas Aberteifi to be included on www.creativecardigan.co.uk
