Church history
ON Saturday, 15 September, there will be an opportunity for the community of Cellan and its neighbourhood to learn something of the history of Cellan Church in its surrounding landscape over a long period of time.
From noon to 4pm in the Millennium Hall, there will be a display of some of the documents and maps used and analysis undertaken by archaeologists and historians from the university in Lampeter over the last few decades.
People will be on hand to explain the material being presented.
At 4pm there will be a talk by Prof Emeritus David Austin summarising some of the conclusions drawn from the material.
This is a drop-in event. All are welcome. Admission is free. Tea and biscuits will be served throughout the day.

The Grade II* church, which is in the top seven per cent of listed buildings in the UK, is reputed to stand on the site of a Bronze Age barrow and is known to have been a place of worship from mediaeval times.
It was successful earlier this year in an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for a substantial grant towards essential repairs.
Later in the autumn there will also be a visual art project for primary school children organised in conjunction with Ysgol y Dderi, Llangybi.
Deputy headteacher Lilian Jones said: “We plan to undertake the project with the help of local artist Helen Duffy and to present an exhibition in church during the autumn term.”
Richard Bellamy, head of HLF in Wales, said: “Wales’ historic and diverse places of worship are so often at the heart of our communities. Thanks to National Lottery players HLF funds urgent structural repairs and also improved facilities and visitor information.
“Our project with All Saints Church is an excellent example of how HLF can help conserve a much loved building so it can continue to serve its local community.”
