GARY chaired the September meeting. Apologies had been received from the Ashtons and Wendy Davies. The minutes of the previous meeting had been distributed beforehand and were agreed.

Acting treasurer, Chris, reported healthy balances of £8,453.25 in the main working account, £4,164.63 in the Business Reserve (nine months’ running costs for the Hall) and £151.97 in the Community Garden Account.

Since the last meeting there had been expenditure of almost £2,000 from the main account against an income of £248.50, with no expenditure from the Community Garden Account and income of £15.

We may have found someone who is willing to take on the role of treasurer and Chris will arrange a meeting with her.

The decorating of the whole of the interior of the hall is almost complete.

The curtains will be back up by the end of the week and will add the final touch to a fresh new look and professional job.

The hall remained open throughout and both the decorators, and users of the hall, are to be thanked and congratulated, on working around each other so well.

Most classes which took a summer break are re-starting the week beginning 5 September are Tai Chi and Qi Gong and Lampeter Bee Keepers are back on 13 Sept.

Friday Film Nights are back on 9 September.

Trish and Ian have agreed to revamp the current ‘sunflower’ notice boards.

They are also organising our second Beer Festival on the weekend of 16 December.

Gary is trying to arrange a meeting with a health and safety officer from Ray Ceredigion to advise on the best configuration for new fencing of the children’s play area.

Following a heated but inconclusive exchange of views on the running of the Community Garden, Improvement Society, as custodians of the land, will be inviting all plotholders and interested parties to a meeting on 14 October at 7.30pm in the hall.

On Friday 9 September a group of Japanese volunteers will be working on the garden.

No representatives from WI or Community Council attended the meeting.

The next committee meeting will be on Thursday, 6 October at 7.30pm.
