St Mary’s Women’s Fellowship
ON 31 October the speaker was Ann Roberts, who gave an enthusiastic cookery demonstration. Nine members attended the meeting. Jessie opened the meeting with the Lord’s Prayer. Ann had brought along samples of food she had prepared and cooked at home, then demonstrated how to prepare these appetizing dishes, including an almond lattice cinnamon and apple gateau, and a seasonal meal using pumpkin. The members then had an opportunity to taste the delicious food, and it was an inspiration to get cooking. Jessie gave the vote of thanks. Beryl won the raffle.
On Friday, 11 November, the members held a Coffee Morning at the Free Library. The day was a success. As it was Armistice Day, the patron, Rev Tim Webb joined and officiated the two minutes silence at 11am. £50 was raised from the sale of hand-crafted poppies, which was donated to the Royal British Legion, and the overall fund- raising came to £372; all of which will go to the charities nominated by the speakers, which this year included Hope House, Air Ambulance, Red Cross, Aberconwy Search and Rescue, Mary Jones World and many more local and international charities.
On 14 November there was a quiz night. Eight members attended, Jessie again opened with the Lord’s Prayer. A good night of fellowship, and friendly competition. Bethan won the raffle.
November ended with the annual Christmas meal on 28 November at the Sospan, eight attended.
Once again an excellent meal prepared by Tom and served by Rachel. The members would all like to thank them for the lovely meal, and making the evening a success. Jessie reminded the members that the next meeting is carol singing at Cefn Rodyn, starting 6pm. The Fellowship members send love and remember in the prayers those members unable to attend the meetings this year, through ill health or caring responsibilities.
