Community council
THE council is looking for volunteers to help run the local youth club.
Cllr Steffan Chambers proposed that the council should place posters in the area asking for people to come forward and help run the club.
The council objected to a planning application for a shed to be built at 45 Llwyn Ynn because members had concerns that it would not blend in with the rest of the houses on the estate.
The chairman stated that he had contacted Geraint Lewis to get an update on the development of a car park and that Mr Lewis had stated that he was waiting for a reply from Gareth Thomas of the highways department regarding widening the gate.
He added that Iona Thomas from the Snowdonia National Park Authority had told him that the site is now being noted as an open space as it is going to be tarmacked.
She also said that a new play park has been developed.
The chairman reported that Tomos Hughes from the Welsh Ambulance Service had been in contact regarding installing a defibrillator in the area.
The clerk reported further that he had been in contact and that a price for a defibrillator to be installed in Talybont would cost £960 for the defibrillator and £420 for a cabinet, including VAT.
Replacement pads and batteries would be free, it was noted, and an electrician would cost between £100 and £200.
It was further stated that two training sessions would be held free of charge.
The clerk said that she had discussed the above prices with the chairman and that he had approved them and stated for Mr Hughes to purchase and arrange for the defibrillator to be installed.
A letter from Gwynedd Council was received along with a contract regarding going into partnership to keep the toilet in Talybont open all year for the sum of £4,000.
It was agreed that the chairman would sign this contract on behalf of the council.
Applications for financial contribution were as follows: Meirionnydd YFC, £200; Cyfeillion Ellis Wynne, none; Gwyl Cerdd Dant Blaenau Ffestiniog a’r Fro 2018, £100; and Dyffryn Ardudwy Football Club, £500.
It was stated that the public footpath that goes from Tyddyn Du towards Smithy Garage needs resurfacing.
Cllr Owen Gwilym Thomas said he would be willing to carry out the work.
This was agreed by members, with the community council to pay for the materials.
It was noted that trees have fallen across the cutting footpath and it was agreed to ask Cllr Edward Williams to clear them.
