Chapel

ON Sunday, 22 October, Glynarthen Chapel will remember three giants of Welsh cultural and religious history.

In an event featuring award winning choir, Côr Caerdydd, Prof E Wyn James from Cardiff University, local bard Idris Reynolds, talented sisters, Elain and Lowri Davies from Ffostrasol and Glynarthen Sunday School Choir, the audience will be treated to musical performances of the highest standard along with fascinating insights remembering and celebrating the enormous contribution made by hymn writer William Williams Pantycelyn, poet Hedd Wyn and entertainer Ryan Davies.

The year 2017 is a year to remember these three greats of Welsh cultural history.

Wales’ most famous hymn writer, William Williams was born 300 years ago in 1717, Hedd Wyn was killed in battle in Passchendaele 100 years ago in 1917 and Ryan Davies died at the age of 40 in 1977.

Proceeds from the event will go to Hafal Crossroads, the charity providing practical support, information and assistance to unpaid carers of all ages and the people they care for.

The event starts at 5pm and tickets are priced at £8 with free entry for schoolchildren.

Do not miss this opportunity to learn from the experts and hear some wonderful choral singing from a choir that has won at the National Eisteddfod 11 times and has recently returned from performing at the Opera House in Cluj, Romania.
