THE chairperson welcomed Rev Beth Bailey and Pam Odam to discuss the exciting plans for the development of St Tanwg’s Church.

Subject to final planning permission from the diocese the work would possibly commence at the end of 2017 and take four months to complete. The committee was extremely supportive and welcomed the innovative proposals.

Rev Bailey went on to explain that the cemetery was unable to open any new graves. The Church is also looking for volunteers for a working group to clear the cemetery, hopefully on the weekend 5 and 6 November.

Cllr Judith Stevens reported that she was in the process of producing an events calendar for November/December.

Plans for the festive period were in full swing with local businesses being contacted to provide Christmas Trees. Thursday, 1 December will see the main lantern parade through Harlech, local businesses will open late and Father Christmas will take a break from his busy schedule to appear at Harlech Castle.

Cllr Stevens was keen to acquire some voluntary street entertainers on the evening as well as entertainment from local band Ysgard and a local choir.

The chairman’s fund will support a children’s disco which will be held in the Neuadd Goffa after the school has closed for Christmas. The fund will also provide a prize of £25 for the best dressed festive shop window display to be judged on the 10 December.

Planning: 71 Cae Gwastad, (NP5/61/469X) – Removal of Section 106. The Committee opposed the application as it had done with similar applications as it was felt it would set a precedent.

Morfa Garage (NP5/61/151C) – New Shop/Office. The committee supported this application.

Financial Applications: Neuadd Goffa - £500; Old Library - £500; Harlech Hamdden - £500; ATC Ardudwy - £250.

Gwynedd Council Highways: A response was received stating the Highways Inspector had seen the overgrowth on the road out of Harlech to the top of St David’s Hill, the inspector had been in contact with the landowners to address the problem within the next month. Failure to do so will result in an enforcement notice.

The committee was advised that the council were preparing a planning application in order to produce electricity from the methane gas produced at the landfill site at Ffridd Rasus. Instead of current process of burning it. The plans will be circulated when they are available. Further information is available on (01766) 780088.

Triathalon: The committee agreed to the use of King George playing field for next year’s triathlon and welcomed the offer to improve the entrance to the field.

Boundaries Commission: Notification of the proposed boundaries was received and unanimously rejected by the committee.

Penygraig: It was noted that trees had obscured much of the view from Penygraig and Cllr Caerwyn Roberts was to deal with the matter. A proposal for a sign “Penygraig” was received.

Cae Du footpath: New signpost required.

Morfa Stores, Harlech: There was a report of a possible defect to the highway on the entrance to Morfa Stores car park, Cllr Gareth Jones to look into this.

Bron y Graig Uchaf Car Park: Cllr Caerwyn Roberts had met with officers of Gwynedd Council with regards to using the car park as a coach park, it was noted that signs were required.
