COME and join a walk in Cwm Croesor on Saturday, 19 August.

After a brief look around the village, walk the line of the former tramway to the head of the cwm.

Much of Croesor’s industrial legacy can be viewed from the tramway. Two major quarries, Croesor and Pant Mawr, lie on the southern slopes of the cwm.

A third, Rhosydd, is just out of sight but also transported its slate by this route down to Porthmadoc. For many people though, the natural landscape will be the true star of this outing.

On one side the near vertical slope rises to the summit of Cnicht and on the other lies the imperious bulk of the Moelwyns.

The route is almost completely flat but has puddles and is muddy in parts so as usual stout footwear is recommended.

Meet at the car park in Croesor at 2pm.

The walk will take about two hours.

Refreshments should be available at the Oriel Caffi Croesor or the Brondanw Arms, Llanfrothen.

The final 2.5 miles of the road to Croesor is single lane (but with many passing places) so please arrange a car share if it is practicable.

If the walk has to be cancelled due to bad weather the group will try again the following Saturday.

No dogs please.
