PRESIDENT Christine Hemsley welcomed all members, with a special welcome to two guests.

Meirion was sung, a speedy recovery was wished to those members who are unwell.

Birthday cards were given out and flowers presented to two members with special birthdays.

Minutes of the last meeting were signed as being correct.

Treasurer’s report was read out and it was decided unanimously on the local organisations they will be donating funds to this year.

County letter was read and items of interest noted.

Christine then introduced Kevin Evans, chef at Cemlyn Tea Room Harlech.

He gave a lovely demonstration on making Welsh cakes, plus a variation on the tradition kind, chocolate and mincemeat to name a couple.

Plenty of tasting was enjoyed.

Myfanwy gave a vote of thanks.

The next craft meeting will be on 19 October where they will be making decorative tea light holders.

The November meeting will be Christmas cupcake decorating.

They are hoping to arrange a visit to the Laura Ashley exhibition in Aberystwyth at the end of October and next Spring a visit to Hedd Wyn’s house in Trawsfynydd.

The next dining club outing will be a Christmas lunch at Bwyty’r Gader, an incredible dining experience run by the catering department of Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, Dolgellau.

The December meeting, which is also our Christmas party will be held in the Cemlyn Harlech, we all agreed to this venue.

Stella Calvert reminded everyone that the Autumn Horticultural Show will be held in the Memorial Hall on 4 November.

They also congratulated her on having been a member of the WI for 60 years, a well-deserved round of applause was given.

The Memorial Hall is looking wonderful and they would like to say a big thank you to all the local volunteers, all those who contributed financially and the two companies that sold us paint and floor protection at cost price.

They could not have done it without Sheila and Jim Lees organising the project, they did an incredible job.

The raffle was won by Jenny.

The November meeting is the AGM.
