Cymdeithas Hanes

THE next meeting of Cymdeithas Hanes Llambed will be held on Tuesday, 21 November, in the Old Hall of the University of Wales Trinity St David, at 7.30pm.

The speaker is Alan Leech, who is a retired headteacher and educational adviser, who has lived in Llanfair Clydogau for many years. He will talk about the very significant local man, William Jones, of Glandenys mansion, at Silian.

He was the first mayor of Lampeter, and an influential banker, magistrate and politician.

Alan has undertaken research on a number of areas near to Lampeter and published several books.

He assesses William Jones as one of the most outstanding Lampeter figures of the 19th century.
