THE latest community news from Llanbadarn

St Padarn’s

ATTENDANCES at all three services last Sunday morning were very much affected by the inclement weather, but such was the commitment of the bell ringers that, despite the weather, nine ringers were in the tower for Sunday service; and the previous day two car loads had travelled to Carmarthen for the Diocesan Guild Practice at St Peters.

Parish magazine

THE Christmas edition of the Parish magazine is now available from the table at the back of church and contains full details of all the Christmas and New Year services and much, much more.

Of particular note is that the picture from Beti Jones of the Sunday School included in the November magazine has led to two members – William Johnson and Canon William Watkins – of the English congregation, dating it back to the mid 1950s, and identifying many of the youngsters shown in it.

It is hoped that other members of the two congregations will be able to identify those who are unknown at present.

Services

NEXT Sunday, 17 December, is the third Sunday in Advent and services will be: 8am – Holy Communion using the 1984 Red Book Setting; 10am – Gwasanaeth Naw Llith a Charolau; 11.15am – Service of Nine Lessons and Carols led by the church choir conducted by Darryl Walters.

The following Sunday, 24 December, is Christmas Eve and there will only be two services. The very popular bilingual family carol service is at 3pm; and what for many is a very special service, the first Communion of Christmas – Midnight Mass at 11pm. This service will be sung and bilingual

All are warmly welcomed to the services in the run up to Christmas.
