St Padarn’s

THE church shop at the back of church continues to thrive and generate much-needed income for the church.

The shop is now concentrating on Christmas and Christmas cards and gifts are now on sale.

The shop team has also received two special gifts for Christmas.

The first of these is a handmade Christmas table runner.

This beautiful item measures 41” by 20”and a competition is being held to give 100 parishioners a chance to win it.

Entry costs £2 and entrants will simply be asked to select the name of a flower from a list of 100 provided, with the winning flower selected at random just before Christmas.

The second gift is a Steiff Lamb which has been made by the famous Steiff company.

Some of their teddy bears and soft toys have become collectors’ items and parishioners interested in purchasing it are invited by the shop team to submit, in a sealed envelope, a written bid for it by the end of November.

Much is happening in the Benefice in the run up to Advent and full details together with times for all the services are shown.

Included in the magazine is a reprint of a delightful photograph which Beti Jones of the Welsh congregation has, showing the children attending the St Padarn’s Sunday Schools sometime in the 1960’s.

The teachers and helpers are also in the photograph and Beti and the Vicar, the Rev Andrew Loat, would love to be able to put names to some of the faces and anyone who can help with this is asked to contact the Vicarage.

Next Sunday, 12 November, is Remembrance Sunday and services will be: Holy Communion at 8am, using the 1984 Red Book Setting, and at 10am, the United Bilingual Parish Service of Remembrance.

This will be followed by a procession to the Village War Memorial for a further short service and laying of wreaths.
