THE latest community news from Llanbedr

Community Council

AGAIN this month a very busy and eventful meeting, and a reminder for all that there is no August meeting.

On 5 June, some of the councillors were present at Llanbedr war memorial to commemorate the 100 years of the RAF, and its connection with Llanbedr was clearly seen.

The aim of the community council is to have an exhibition generated from this event at the village hall on the Remembrance Sunday in November, and would appreciate if any photos or stories could be forwarded to the clerk of the community council as soon as possible.

Note that the village is spoilt, through some people being selfish and leaving litter and cut glass in the playing field.

Again the issue of speeding has been raised. Hopefully there will be new signage in the village noting that there are no footways, and having countdown signs before entering the 30mph limit zone. Cllr Robin Ward was thanked for meeting with a representative of Gwynedd Council regarding this issue.

They have also received complaints about speeding on the Bryn Deiliog Estate.

Again the issue with parking along Mochras road was discussed, and to alleviate the problem the Council asks kindly if people could park if possible at the back of their properties.

A request to help with this issue is to remove the disable parking bay by the entrance to the main road, and to extend the double yellow lines.

This will be forwarded to Gwynedd Council for their opinion.

The footbridge at Pentre Gwynfryn will be removed and plans drawn up for a new bridge over the river.

The community council and Cllr Annwen Hughes are pressing for this to be done immediately since the water level is at its lowest for some time.

Issues with cutting the road side, sweeping roads, and weed killing on pavements, pot holes, are issues of concern and have been forwarded to Gwynedd Council.

The playing Field has been cut again by Eirwyn Thomas, and many thanks to Workman’s of Shell Island for allowing the use of their equipment.

However this work has been put out to tender, but unfortunately there was no interest. Also contacted the work force of Cyngor Gwynedd for a quote for the work. Unfortunately this year the community council are not in a position to accept this quote, as not budgeted for it, to be cut every two weeks. It is a good size football pitch, and we are very fortunate that the community council is the owner of the land. Subsequently Eirwyn will hopefully achieve to cut once every four weeks for this season.
