Community council
The council confirmed its contribution of £100 towards the North Wales Championship Sheepdog Trials staged at Talsarnau recently.
A number of complaints have been received regarding leaves on the road and blocked drains. This is especially a problem on Cwm Bychan Road by the Felin.
Overgrown vegetation protruding into the road is making it difficult for pedestrians to walk on the road by Bron Pwll at the Llanbedr end of Sarn Hir.
The speeding traffic approaching Llanbedr makes this a serious issue.
These matters will be directed to Gwynedd Council.
The footbridge at Pentre Gwynfryn should be replaced by the end of this financial year. New plans are now been produced by YGC.
The Welsh Government’s money for the Llanbedr Airfield access road is now in place and the work should be finished by the end of the 2020-21 financial year, but there is no starting date set as yet.
The community council has acquired permission to re locate the ship’s timber sculpture seat from opposite the Victoria Inn to another site in the village.
This will not be done immediately.
The artwork was commissioned as part of the Ardudwy Cycle Route and was made by Howard Bowcott in 2002.
The Llanbedr Christmas lights switch-on took place on Friday, 20 November.
The community council wishes to thank all those involved in the preparation of a spectacular display once again this year, with special thanks to the members of the Beer Festival for all their hard work.
It was noted that Wing Commander John Wynne and his son Ben were buried in separate funerals at St Peter’s Church, Llanbedr on Friday, 19 November.
Both men had played a major part in developing and maintaining Llanbedr’s friendship with its twin village in Huchenfeld and Frau Sabine Wagner, the Mayor of Huchenfeld; Herr Bernd Heinz, a Huchenfeld councillor and the chair of the Huchenfeld Wales Club and Petra and Wolfgang Alexi representing the Huchenfeld Cross of Nails group had travelled to Llanbedr from Baden-Wurtemburg to be present for the funerals.
Frau Wagner made a moving and memorable tribute to John Wynne during the funeral service.
In addition, Edmund Bailey, the Lord Lieutenant for Gwynedd; Air Commodore Adrian Williams, the RAF’s senior officer in Wales; and Cllr Annwen Hughes the current Chair of Gwynedd Council were present as part of the large congregation at John Wynne’s funeral.
The funeral service was a moving and memorable tribute to Wing Commander Wynne and was bought to a close by a fly-past by two Hawk T2 aircraft from RAF Valley as Wing Commander Wynne was put to rest.
