THE latest community news from Llanbedr
Community council
IT was the start of a new financial year for the council, and there was a full turnout of the councillors.
Unfortunately no tenders were received for the grass mowing in the Cemetery at St Peter’s Church, nor for work to keep the busiest public footpaths clear. If anyone is interested, then please contact the clerk as soon as possible for details.
Councillors Ian Morris and Annwen Hughes declared a vested interest in the planning applications put forward by Hafan Artro.
The council gave a response of no objection to the retrospective application for the retention to the rear elevation of the store and external bar counter.
Also, no objection to the erection of an external television screen during the summer season (March to October), but that measures be put in place to limit the impact of noise on local residents.
Numerous emails have been received regarding the planning application to establish a Mosque and Meditation Centre at Capel Moreia.
As reported in the previous meeting, the community council could only refer to the planning application in hand, and as such had no objections to the proposed plans.
The council raised the issue that there could be significant parking problems when the application was discussed and made relevant comments to the National Park. Parking and associated congestion issues are an ongoing issue that the community council have been trying to get addressed for some years.
It was hoped that measures to address Llanbedr’s parking problems would have been included in the new airfield access road scheme, and parking locations were put forward by the Council at the time of consultation but were not included in the final drawings for the new road.
The work on the footbridge over the river on Pentre Gwynfryn has begun, and we are all looking forward to seeing and using the finished product.
Issues have been raised regarding the fallen wall opposite the entrance to Coed Mawr. Also a section of the wall of the car park on Mochras Road near to Llanbedr railway halt has again been knocked down.
