Community Council

The council yet again had two meetings close together. One being a public meeting regarding the proposal by Harlech and Ardudwy Leisure to increase the funding from the Community Council due to three per cent inflation. And to commit to this funding for five years.

The public meeting was attended by 20 residents of Llanbedr. Some were clearly in favour and others not so sure, and needed more clarification on the financial statement.

In the community council meeting early December it was agreed to support HAL, but also ask them to be more transparent with the financial side of running the pool and facilities, and also to have more meetings with the various councils in the Ardudwy area.

In the meeting Kevin Titley was nominated as vice chairman for the council.

The planning application from Hendre Waelod,water turbine was discussed and the council was in favour of this development.

Annwen Hughes noted that she had contacted the Highways department of Gwynedd Council regarding the fall of leaves on the roadside. The matter should be cleared in a few days.

The community council again for the next financial year is committed in supporting Gwynedd Council in order to keep the public toilets open in Llanbedr from Easter until October at a cost to the community council of £2,000.

Work is in progress in fixing the wooden gate to the play area. Tidying up of the play equipment will be placed on the budget for next year’s financial year. Also consideration will be made then whether or not to replace the solar lights with LED bulbs. This again at a considerable cost to the council, estimated at £800.

It appears that the planning for the new access road into Llanbedr will be forwarded to the planning authority by March. The delay is because of the National Resource Wales questions that needed to be answered, matters relating to flood risk.

The Councillors wished to express their thanks to the Beer Festival Committee again this year for producing a colorful arrangements of Christmas lights to brighten up the village during this festive time.
