Genau’r Glyn WI

THERE has been a varied and interesting programme this year. In April a group visited Blue Island Ceramics in Borth. They selected an item they wished to paint which was great fun, and left them to be fired in the kiln, and were very pleased with the result. The Rheidol Power Station was the May outing. They were given a talk on when and how the power station came to be. They donned hard hats and special jackets to be given a tour of the station and how it works. They were taken to see the fish which are introduced into the rivers at various times. The afternoon came to a close with a welcome cup of tea in the Welcome Centre. In June, Mary McGlyn came to show how to make hedgehogs out of paperback books. Members sat around the table folding the pages of the books and indeed did end up with hedgehogs after they had painted their noses black and added two eyes. Mary also showed how to make Christmas trees using a similar method. The evening ended with the usual tea and biscuits served by members. The annual trip this year was to Teifi Cheese in Bwlchgroes, where they also make all flavours of gin and whisky. A very nice meal was enjoyed in Ffostrasol Arms. The next meeting is on 6 September in Bethlehem Chapel, Llandre at 7.30pm. New members welcome.
