WI

THE new president, Anne Morgan, opened the first meeting of the new year on Thursday, 3 January, welcoming members and a new guest at the Tysul Hall.

Following the usual proceedings, congratulations were given to Gwenyth Edwards for being awarded with an honorary doctorate from Swansea University.

The carol singing by 12 members at Henllan and Alltymynydd Homes were a great success and enjoyed by all.

Votes were taken for a new WI resolution and the majority voted for a ‘Call against the decline in local bus services’, a subject always important for those living in rural communities as many of us are in Wales.

During the evening, members enjoyed a game of Would I Lie To You?, organised by Jane Kerr and Lone with a panel of four members trying to outwit others with truth or lies.

It was a resounding success and the winners were Judith, Myfanwy, Helena and Yvonne.

The vote of thanks was given by Judith.

The competition for the night was - ‘A New Year’s Resolution’, winners were: 1 Carol, 2 Anne and 3 Judith.

The next coffee morning will be held in the Henllan Winery on Thursday, 17 January, at 10.30am.

Next meeting will be in the Tysul Hall on Thursday, 7 February, at 7.30pm.
