THE latest community news from Llanfair Clydogau
Community Council
THE Annual General Meeting of the community council took place in Cellan’s Millennium Hall.
Alan Leech was the retiring chairman from 2018/19.
Dave Bartholemew, of Cellan, was elected as chairman for the 2019-20 year with Glennis Gratwick, of Llanfair Clydogau, elected as the vice chairman.
In the absence of Dave Batholomew, Glennis Gratwick took charge of the meeting.
There was a long discussion about the developments which were occurring with respect to the drafting of a Lampeter Place Plan.
Lampeter Town Councillor Gary Thorgood had attended the previous meeting with the community councillors to explain the aims behind the plan, its eventual submission to Ceredigion Council and the role of the Welsh government.
Councillors noted that it was designed to specify how Lampeter might look in the future and what its development should be, with the opportunity for the community to put forward ideas for inclusion.
Observations were made about the lack of any governmental funding for any suggestions which might emerge.
Debate also took place about the major structural changes which were about to take place at the university in the town, student numbers, alterations in courses at the campus and the effect these might have on Lampeter itself.
Members of the council also raised concerns over two highway matters on the B4343, one within Ceredigion and the other in Carmarthenshire.

LLANFAIR’S hall was the venue for a recent meeting to look at ways in which the two parishes of Llanfair Clydogau and Cellan can continue to work together to raise the target of £2,000 set by the national committee.
