Gardening Club
THE Llanidloes Gardening Club had a very successful members’ flower and vegetable show.
The winners were Llew Powell for best flowers, Tom Rowlands for best fruit and vegetables, Haulwen Owen for floral art, Linda Jones for preserves and cooking, Ruth Davies for best container, Christine Matthews Lumb for the novice rose bowl and Christine Matthews Lumb for best wine.
Thanks were given to members who worked so hard to make it a success and to members of the public who supported the event. The club’s year comes to a close with the AGM on Tuesday, 25 September, at the Elephant Inn, Longbridge Street at 7.30pm. New members welcome, £5 fee per year.

Defibrillator training
A TOTAL of 49 people attended the defibrillator training sessions held at Chatwood on Saturday, 15 September, organised by Llanidloes Rotary and delivered by members of the St John Ambulance Service, making this a very successful, walk-in event.
Rotary president John Selwyn Smith warmly thanked the owners of Chatwood and the trainers for this event, as well as members of the public who came forward to participate on the day.
This Saturday (22 September) they look forward to the coffee morning in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind, to be held in the Old Mill, High Street, from 10am to 1pm, with free entry.
Bingo
THERE will be bingo at the rugby club, Smithfield Street, on Wednesday, 19 September.
Admission 50p, doors open 7.30pm, eyes down 8pm. Admission includes tea/coffee and biscuit. In aid of Llanidloes Mothers and Toddlers.
There will also be bingo at the rugby club on Wednesday, 26 September (admission 50p, doors open 7.30pm, eyes down 8pm) in aid of Llanidloes Enablement Club.
Arwystli Society
THE Arwystli Society is arranging a trip to Leighton Home Farm Buildings in Welshpool this Wednesday (19 September) at 2.30pm. Names if you are going to 07791 987396.
