Community centre
HAVE you enjoyed attending recent events at Llanidloes Community Centre, or are your children benefitting from one of the clubs or activities hosted there? If so the centre needs you!
Tim Morgan, chairman of the board of directors, said: “The average age of our directors is 64 and several are over 70. If it is to stay open, we need more involvement from younger people and particularly the parents of children using the Centre. So we are appealing for those people who use it to get more involved in running it.” There is an opportunity to find out more on 5 June when the centre is holding its AGM at 6pm in the centre’s Bailey Room.
Work is due to begin this summer on repairing the flat roof at the front of the building and a contract to replace the main roof is planned for next year.
Tim said. “We have been able to host some great events in the last year such as the Roller Disco, as well as annual events such as the Christmas Fair and the Food Festival. We have the Treorchy Male Voice Choir booked for October. Weekly activities such as the Gym Club and Brownies/Guides continue to provide activities for young people. Just a small commitment by more people could make all the difference and ensure the centre continues to provide a focus for community activities in the future.”
