Twinning anniversary
PLANS are afoot for a big celebration in Llanidoes next July when the Town Twinning group welcome families from their twin town of Derval in France. That’s because 2020 marks the 25th anniversary of the link between the two towns.
When the group of around 50 people arrive on 25 July there will be visits to local attractions and events in and around Llanidloes.
The visit, which lasts until 30 July, will have a medieval theme and organisers are busy planning visits to places of interest plus entertainment and activities for all ages.
The organising committee are keen for as many people as possible from Llanidloes to take part in this landmark visit.
John Shercliff, chairman of the Twinning Association, extended a welcome to anyone who’d like to join in: “If you are interested in taking part in the twinning visit by hosting a French person or family in your home or by taking part in other activities you can find out more at our AGM and social evening on Thursday, 20 November at 7.30pm at the rugby club. There will be a chance to meet our group, look at photos of previous events and enjoy a buffet and drinks. Town Twinning events are a brilliant way to find out more about people from a different culture and everyone always makes lots of new friends.
“The whole experience is always great fun.”
