Rotary club
THE last meeting on 12 February was to discuss business.
President Tim Chilton started by welcoming prospective new members Steve Board and Belinda Cooper.
They agreed to give £300 towards the Special Olympics Powys whose aim is to support and develop inclusive coaching and competition opportunities for all Special Olympics athletes in the Region.
Rhys Sheppard asked that the money he got from collecting wood for the bonfire went to the Rotary Disaster Recovery Trust towards the Australian Bushfires; they agreed to send £200.
Speaker secretary Sheena McCurrach said Tim Coleridge from CAT will be coming to the meeting on 29 April.
Ian Taylor is to arrange for Keith Foster of Powys Safety Solutions to attend a meeting to discuss defibrillators in more detail, as they embark on another joint venture to purchasing a second one with Woosnam & Davies.
They then had a lengthy discussion in to how they could improve the running of the club, which ended amicably.
Secretary John Cradduck said that the annual Polio collection will be in the Co-op on Saturday, 22 February.
John also said that Marie Curie has asked the club to do the two annual collections this year.
After the meeting, president Tim and the organising committee, Ivan Evans and John Cradduck, launched this year’s Rotary Great Easter Egg Raffle, at which they donate 10 giant Easter eggs to local businesses.
Tim finished the meeting by confirming that District Governor Bob Maskall will be attending next week’s Fellowship Evening.
Gardening club
THE next meeting will be on Tuesday, 25 February at the Elephant Inn at 7.30pm.
The speaker will be Dan Hodgkiss from the Montgomery Wildlife Trust. He will be talking about the work of the trust and their projects for this year.
New members (£5 subs) and visitors for the evening (£3) are always welcome.
Complimentary teas and coffees will be available.

Games
AROUND 25 people turned up at the church hall on Tuesday, 11 February, for an evening of playing games.
David Granero and a team of volunteers collected a number of entertaining games and are expanding their collection into a library.
A voluntary donation helps fund tea and biscuits.
Games ranged from the tactile and physical, simple to learn and easy to play, to more demanding and complex.
Referred to as games for wellbeing, David Granero acts as co-ordinator, and staged a fun evening night.
David will act on feedback from the night and plan regular future meetings, probably fortnightly.
Games for wellbeing were partnered with Llani Limited to create the evening and funded by the Comic Relief Community Fund.
Lunch club
LUNCH club at the Travellers Rest every Wednesday, from 19 February.
Come for a lunch and a chat, meet up with friends old and new.

Bob Pitcher art exhibition
FORMER vicar of St Idloes Church, Bob Pitcher, has an exhibition of his artwork running at The Heritage Centre, Oswestry until 29 February.
A unique reflection on past contemporary life created in a colourful graffiti, collage style.
Tennis club
THERE will be an annual general meeting at 6.30pm on Thursday, 27 February, at the tennis clubhouse.
Lent lunches 2020
EVERY Friday from 28 February at St Idloes Church Hall from 12.30pm.
