Bingo

THERE will be bingo at the Rugby Club, on Wednesday, 26 October at 7.30pm in aid of Llanidloes Cricket Club. 50p entry for adults includes tea/coffee and a biscuit.

Choir

Pine Marten Project

THERE will be a talk by Jenny Macpherson of the Vincent Wildlife Trust about the recent successful re-introduction of 20 pine martens from Scotland into the forests of mid Wales on Thursday, 27 October at 7.30pm at the Old Mill. Everyone welcome, free entry. (A Green Drinks event sponsored by LLES).

Wings appeal

THE Llanidloes branch of the RAFA wish to thank those who collected house-to-house, accepted a collecting box or collected in stores during the recent Wings Appeal and to those who contributed and raised £19,992.40, which will go to the local and national RAFA welfare projects.

Autumn Collection

THE Autumn Collection will be ready for viewing at Minerva Arts Centre from 24 October to 8 November, 10.30am-4.30pm.

Public meeting

THERE will be a Public Meeting concerned with the threatened imminent closure of Maesywennol Daycentre in the Church Hall at St Idloes Church, 7pm on Wednesday, 19 October.

Death café

THE first Llanidloes Death Café will open on Thursday, 20 October at Trinity Church Hall, 6.45pm to 9pm.

Choir

THE new Dynamic Choir Concert takes place at the Community Centre, Saturday, 22 October at 7.30pm in memory of Owen Davies.

Funds raised will go to the Lingen Davies Unit, Shrewsbury Hospital, the MS Centre (Hyperbaric Oxygen) and Wolverhampton Pancreatic Cancer Research, UK.

Maesywennol

AT Maesywennol on Monday, 31 October, 6,30pm, there will be a Halloween and cheese and wine evening with Carol Rhys-Jones singing.

Vine harvest celebration

TIR Coed and Both Coed Open Day, Allt Goch Woods, Saturday, 22 October, 1pm-4pm to celebrate Apple Day and the Autumn Harvest.

This will be the final Open Day of the Tir Coed VINE Project and organisers hope that Both Coed will continue to be supported to develop activities within the community woods into the future.

Tir Coed Tutors will provide music and forest school activities.

Pete Williams from Red Dragon Bushcraft will be leading an interactive fire-lighting and bushcraft session.

There will be storytelling and dramatic performances and Tir Coed’s specialist ecologist, Scott Roe will be presenting his biodiversity monitoring report which will present the ecological impact of Tir Coed’s training courses and activities over the last three years.

Gardening club

THE club held its AGM on 27 September and the following officers were elected: chairman: Dalis Davies, vice chairman: Trish Kneale, treasurer: Charles Gratrix, secretary: Jane Griffiths.

Show Committee officers were also re-elected, and are as follows: chairman: Mary Williams, secretary: Linda Jones, treasurer: Charles Gratrix. Show Sub-committee: Trish Kneale, Llew Powell, Nigel Jones, Jane Griffiths.

The treasurer declared the club to be in good financial health and subscriptions to remain at £5 for the coming year. These are now due.

The first guest speaker this year sees the return of Kristian Hickson-Booth from Welshpool. She will be talking on ‘My working experiences in the National Trust and English Heritage Gardens’ on 25 October, 7.30pm in the Elephant Inn, Long Bridge Street.
