Scarecrow festival

THIS year’s Scaresrow Festival attracted a lot of admirers along the valley to Old Hall from Llanidloes and the general consensus was it was the best yet.

Heavy rain showers made it difficult at times, but the handiwork of the local residents brought admiration from many sightseers as they drove up and down a road festooned with creative ideas for scarecrows.

The collection point at Glan y Nant and the refreshments at Rhyd y Fenw raised money for Wales Air Ambulance.

Pictured above are some of the designs that were on display.

Inner Wheel

THE Inner Wheel Club of Llanidloes has had another enjoyable year.

Following a successful coffee morning at Chatwood, president Aileen Jones and the club’s officers presented £400 to Ian Brown of Llanidloes Dial-a-Ride.

Club members would like to thank all those who supported the event.

Other fundraising activities during the year enabled the club to present £100 to the Northern Cleft Foundation and £50 to the When You Wish Upon A Star children’s charity.

Once again members and friends cooked breakfast at Staylittle for the participants of the Rotary Across Wales Walk.

To mark the end of the Inner Wheel year, members enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea at the Lych Gate Cottage Tea Room, Berriew.

After a summer break members will meet at the Mount Inn at 6.45pm on Monday, 4 September.

The club wants to recruit new members and invites anyone interested to come along to the meeting. If you are interested, contact Aileen Jones on 01686 413111.
