Bonfire and fireworks display

THE Rotary Club of Llanidloes present the annual bonfire and fireworks display at Kennel Field on Saturday, 4 November; lighting fire at 6.30pm, fireworks from 7pm.

There will be beefburgers, hot dogs and soft and hot drinks available. Free entry.

A bucket collection will be held for local Rotary good causes.

Please do not bring sparklers or fireworks onto the field.

There will be a PA system in use for announcements and music.

Sponsored by both Morris, Marshall and Poole and Llani Leisure Llanidloes.

Fundraising concert

LLANIDLOES Community Centre hosts a grand fund-raising concert on Friday, 24 November, 7.30pm, Côr Meibion Machynlleth perform with Llidiartywaen and Trefeglwys YFC’s, Ian and Roland Davies and Rob Evans.

The compere will be Roger Hughes.

Community Heartbeat Trust

THE second ‘Defib Day’ and first aid training day organised by the Rotary Club held in conjunction with sponsors Woosnam & Davies News was held in September at Chatwood.

They have 65 Certificate of attendance to hand out from this session. If you attended the seminar then your certificate can be picked up from Woosnam & Davies News.

Thanks for all who helped in any way with special thanks to Keith Foster of the Community Heartbeat Trust, Annette Macken of St John Ambulance (organising demonstrations ROTA), Tony Thorn of The Rotary Club (organising Rotary ROTA) & Woosnam & Davies Newsagents (in conjunction with and main sponsors).

The training day was the second public day held by The Rotary Club this year, which means that well over 100 have attended The Community Heartbeat Trust demonstration in the use of the community defibrillators, how the equipment works and its benefits to the community in saving precious minutes in the treatment of sudden cardiac arrests.

Legion

THE Royal British Legion Ladies Section will hold their AGM on Wednesday, 1 November, at 11.30am.

The meeting will be held at The Red Lion Hotel by kind permission of Eileen Hawkins.

Jungle Club

THE After School Club is holding a raffle to raise funds. Tickets are available from Woosnam & Davies.

Remembrance Sunday

THE British Legion invite readers to a service of Remembrance on Sunday.

Organisations, groups and clubs of the town are given notice that the parade will assemble on the High Street (top of town) at 10.20am with the parade setting off at 10.30am prompt, they will then march to St Idloes Church.

Rev Linda Cowan will hold a service of remembrance for The Royal British Legion, Ladies Section after the service.

The parade will proceed to the war memorial where the wreaths of the town’s organisations will be laid and standards will be presented for the act of homage.

Bingo

THERE is a bingo session at the rugby club on Wednesday, 8 November, at 7.30pm; eyes down at 8pm.

50p entry for adults includes tea/coffee and a biscuit.

Proceeds are in aid of the Llanidloes Christmas Lights.
