Rotary

THANKS to the generosity of the people of Llanidloes over the past year, the town’s Rotary Club has funds which are available for distribution at their forthcoming AGM in June.

The club would like to hear from any local groups, organisations or individuals who need financial support to continue the work they do in the local community.

Llanidloes Rotary Club president Stephen Meyer, said: “As a club we have had a very successful year and whilst we only have limited funds to donate, we do want to make sure that the money we distribute is used in the best possible way to help the community.”

If your organisation would like to be considered for a donation, please contact the club secretary Tony Thorn by emailing [email protected] outlining why the Rotary Club should support your work and what a donation would achieve.

Community Centre

ON Saturday morning, 3 February, there was a presentation by the trustees of Llanidloes Community Centre in the Bailey Room.

A presentation to the public invited reactions and suggestions and gave an account of the progress of the centre and plans for the future.

There was a good turn out of interested persons who viewed a slide show and saw maps describing the planned improvements and various other informative items.

The ongoing project of roof repair was discussed and that has to go forward to the planning stage as well as the other improvements.

An extension for storage purposes is designed, extra parking space and two electric car charging points also, with one of the charging points designated to Llanidloes Car Club.

Disabled access and improved entrances will be provided, subject to the planning permission being granted.

A new ceiling with LED lighting is another feature.
