Community Council
LLANRHYSTUD Community Council met on 5 December to discuss the correspondence and matters raised by the community.
Ceredigion Technical Services had been in touch to say that the Trunk Road Authority were proposing to remove the existing 40mph speed limit on the A487 at the southern end of Llanrhystud. This section of the A487 will revert to a 30mph limit covering the access to the beach and the footway. Two uncontrolled crossing points with central refuge islands are also to be installed and both uncontrolled crossing points will be within the 30mph limits. Further consultation regarding the new crossing points will take place once detailed design has been completed. The proposed positions of the crossings are – opposite to Britannia and on the boundary of Westbrook and Heol Islwyn. In the reply to the consultation, they asked that the 30mph speed limit be extended to the northern end of the village in order to improve the safety of the school lane junction. This request has been passed on to the Trunk Road Authority.
The county council has been asked to deal with the following complaints: To put up a ‘No Sat Nav’ sign in Cwm Mabws; to cut back the tree overhanging the road near to the entrance to Penlan Mabws; to repair a broken sign in Rhydlas square and unblock drains on the road leading from Rhydlas Square and near to Pentrebach.
A budget for the coming year was introduced and a decision made to ask for a precept for 2019/20 of £8600. This is at the same level as last year. If local organisations wish to ask for grants this year, they should write in before the end of January.
The next meeting is on Wednesday, 2 January 2019 at 7.30pm in the memorial hall.
