Community council

THE council met on 2 January to discuss correspondence and matters raised by the community.

A reply had been received from Ceredigion Technical Services to the request for sat nav signs on Cwm Mabws.

The reply stated that Ceredigion council does not erect sat nav signs on any of the county’s minor roads because of the cost and that there are warning signs on the roads showing that they are not suitable for heavy vehicles.

The councillors were supportive of the principle of the application A181173 to change the use and build an extension to the old religious meeting house at Brynwyre.

However, they expressed reservations that the design of the extension would detract from the character of the old building.

Permission was given to reimburse the clerk £181.99 for out-of-pocket expenses incurred during 2018.

A bill of £1 was received from Tai Ceredigion – payment of annual ground rent for the bus shelter.

A bill for £240.07 was received from Ceredigion County Council for the cost of illuminating street lamps for the period from midnight to 5am.

However, this bill was queried as it had risen by 59 per cent since last year.

Two appeals for donations were received, from Llanddeiniol Church and from the committee raising funds for the Ceredigion National Eisteddfod in 2020.

These will be considered next month, as will all appeals received in 2018/19.

If a local organisation wishes to submit a request for a donation, it should contact the clerk before the next meeting.

The next meeting of the council will be held on Wednesday, 7 February, at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall.
