Community council
LLANRHYSTUD Community Council met on 5 June to discuss the correspondence and matters raised by the community.
The meeting began with a visit by Diane Williams, community connector for Porth y Gymuned, Ceredigion County Council.
She explained that the role of the community connector is to connect with individuals and groups in the community who may be in need of help so they can make sense of all the services and activities that is available in the local area and to point them in the direction which best suits their needs at that time.
The county council had replied to the e-mail sent to them raising concerns about the state of the road in phase 3 Heol Isfoel – this has been passed on to the original complainant.
Several concerns were raised by the community this month and the community council responded by asking the county council to cut back the tree growing on the wall between the two paths leading from the bridge over the ford to school lane, to cut back or take down the dangerous tree in Cwm Mabws and to remove the large pieces of concrete from the weir by the ford.
Other complaints focussed on speeding motorists, litter, dog fouling, householders throwing items such as wood, plastic, polystyrene and garden waste into the river and the bench damaged on the green area by the noticeboard.
In response to these complaints the community council will circulate a note to remind people to respect their village with regards to dog fouling and litter both on the grass verges and the river.
The community policeman has been contacted to ask for more presence in the village and in monitoring speed through the village.
The Trunk Road Authority has also been contacted to ask for flashing speed monitoring signs on the A487 on the approaches to the village north and south.
The next meeting will be held on 9 July at 7.30pm in the memorial hall.
