Community council

THE council met on 6 September to discuss the correspondence and matters raised by the community.

Mrs S Richards was welcomed to her role as community councillor for the Haminiog ward.

The county council has completed the following jobs requested on behalf of the community over the last couple of years: the Glanyrafon watercourse cleared of weeds, a new street sign for Church Street, non-slip surface on the footbridge over the ford and yellow lines repainted outside the school.

One request still awaiting a reply is for a replacement vehicle-activated speed warning sign on the B4337.

The clerk was asked to write again to the county council to express concern that the B4337 had not been designated as a safe route to school and appropriate action taken such as a temporary 20mph zone implemented for when pupils arrive and leave school. This work has already been done in other areas of Ceredigion.

Ysgol Myfenydd school governors will be asked to support the community council in trying to get something done to improve the safety of this route to school.

Notification was received from Ceredigion County Council and NHS Wales of current consultations which can be viewed on their websites.

There were no observations made to the planning application A170815 to extend the dwelling and curtilage at 3 Caerfelin.

The appeal for a donation to Y Ddolen will be considered at the end of the year.

Information on the temporary road closures on the C1127 (lane leading from school lane to Caerfelin) and the C1140 (Cwm Mabws) can be found on the village noticeboard.

The next meeting of the community council is on 4 October at 8pm in the Memorial Hall.
