Community Council

LLANRHYSTUD Community Council met on 1 November to discuss the correspondence and matters raised by the community.

Members of the Aberaeron Improvement Committee visited to discuss the appeal for funding the purchase of a new First Responder vehicle for the area.

The councillors decided to donate £200 towards the appeal.

Also received this month were appeals for donations to Marie Curie and the Citizens Advice Bureau.

These will be considered at the end of the year.

A thank you was received from the Aberystwyth/Kronberg Committee for the donation made to them recently.

The neighbourhood police also, visited the meeting to discuss the complaint about the speed of vehicles on the A487 through the village.

They promised more police monitoring of the situation.

The clerk had met with pupils of Ysgol Myfenydd school to obtain their views and to draw up a plan to include more natural play equipment in the play area.

Two useful booklets, as we consider what to erect in the play area, were received one from Zurich insurance about the kind of risks that a council might encounter and how to manage those risks including in play areas.

The second from the Play Area Network in Ceredigion on the current safety standards for play equipment and surfacing.

Information was received of the Ceredigion County Council’s public consultations that it wishes you to consider – the Local Well Being Plan and the proposed Changes to the County’s Waste Collection Service.

These consultations can be accessed on the Ceredigion council website.

Other information received included a paper asking for the council’s contribution to a Welsh Government Review of the Town and Community Council sector and the Revised Proposals by the Boundary Commission to the 2018 Review of Parliamentary Constituencies in Wales.

Permission was given to pay the Welsh Audit office £186 for their external audit which was completed recently and £40 to One Voice Wales, the fee for the training course attended recently.

Only one matter has been raised from the community – Is the path down to the beach a footpath only or a cycle/footpath?

An email will be sent to highways to ask for a sign indicating which it is and also for a speed limit sign for the road.

The next meeting of the council is on 6 December at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall.
