St Peter’s Church

A REMEMBRANCE Service will be held at the church on Sunday, 10 November, at 10.30am until 10.50am to be followed by a short service at 11am at the War Memorial, under the direction of Arch Deacon Eileen Davies.

The last PCC meeting was held on Monday, 29 October. Present: Canon Eileen Davies (chairperson); Susan Evans (church warden); Philip Fenton; Avril Jones (treasurer); Heather Jones; Christine Rogers; Ann Smith; Eleri Thomas (secretary); and Valerie Wood (vicar’s warden).

Local Ministry Area (LMA) was set up on 30 September at Llanddewi Brefi Church. Llanybydder Church will now form part of the LMA, which will extend from Ystrad Meurig to Llanllwni.

Restorative work will be undertaken shortly by Davies & Morgan & Sons. Many thanks to Llanybydder Community Council for their donation of £500, which was presented to the church, during the Harvest Service, by Cllr Ieuan Davies.

It is hoped to arrange a fundraising event on 1 March 2020 to cover the expenditure. A grant application has also been submitted via the Church in Wales.

A total of £2,200 was collected during the recent sponsored walk, in aid of church funds.

Special thanks were conveyed to Heather Jones for securing £1,110 and Susan Evans for receiving £750 via the Barclay’s Bank £1 for £1 matching.

Many enjoyed the recent Harvest Service and Supper at the church. The guest speaker was Rev Julian Smith. Food was collected in aid of Lampeter Food Bank. Many thanks to all who donated items.

A coffee morning has been organised for the first Wednesday of the month from 10am to noon at the church vestry (started on 4 September. All welcome to attend for a coffee/chat and activities could be on offer in the future. Many thanks to MIND (Mental Health Charity) for the recent donation of £250 to support this outreach programme.

Best wishes are extended to those who are feeling unwell or have lost a loved one. Canon Eileen Davies is responsible for Pastoral Care and undertakes Home Communion or a home visit, on request. Also best wishes to Rev Bill Fillery on his retirement and Elizabeth Fillery.
