St Peter’s Church

THE last Parochial Church Council meeting took place on Monday, 13 January at the church vestry.

Those present were: Arch Deacon Canon Eileen Davies (chairperson); Susan Evans (church warden); Phillip Fenton; Avril Jones (treasurer); Heather Jones; and Eleri Thomas (secretary). Apologies were received from Valerie Wood (vicar’s warden).

It was reported that the Christmas services had been a success. The services included the Lleisiau’r Werin Concert of 8 December in aid of the Welsh Air Ambulance; Carols by Candlelight on 15 December; Midnight Service on 24 December and the Plygain at Ystrad Meurig Church on Sunday, 5 January.

The next coffee morning will resume on Wednesday, 5 February at the church vestry from 10am until noon.

The work concerning the vestry roof has been completed. It is hoped to receive a 25 per cent grant via Carmarthenshire County Council; with many thanks to Cllr Ieuan Davies for his efforts to secure the grant and to Llanybydder Community Council for the £500 funding.

It was resolved to arrange a funraising concert in aid of the repair of the vestry roof to be held on St David’s Day, Sunday, 1 March at the church at 6.30pm. Local artists and choirs were considered. The compère will be Owain Davies. Bara Brith and Welsh cakes will be offered after the service.

It was reported that the Ministry Share for Llanybydder Church for 2020 was £6,350.

The first meeting of the Local Ministry Area LMA took place on Monday, 13 January. Christine Rogers had represented Llanybydder Church.
