Friends’ carols

THE annual Friends of the Tabernacle Christmas Carols’ Concert will be held at the Tabernacle on Sunday, 16 December, at 3pm.

There will be tea, mulled wine and mince pies, and a raffle available. Admission free. Croeso i bawb/welcome to all.

There will be a collection in aid of the Friends of the Tabernacle.

Cooking workshop

MACH Maethlon held a cooking workshop at the bowling club on Thursday, 29 November when, under the guidance of well-known chef Pete from the Green Goat Café, attendees were shown the art of cooking Brazilian Brigadeiros, a delicious and simple recipe.

Brigadeiros are a sweet Brazilian confectionery similar to a fudge truffle, which would make a perfect contender for homemade Christmas treats and gifts.

Dominoes

BOWLING Club, courtesy of a close-fought 7-6 victory at Foresters B, took a one-point lead over their closest rivals during week 6 of 14 in the Dyfi Valley Dominies League.

Other results saw Skinners A prevail 7-6 at home to Foresters A, Red Lion boosted their chances thanks to a 7-6 victory over visitors Skinners B and Dovey won 8-5 at Wynnstay Llan.

Council meeting

MACHYNLLETH Town Council will be holding its next ordinary monthly meeting in Plas Machynlleth on Monday, 17 December, at 6.30pm.

Formal notice of the meeting will be placed on the council’s notice boards in front of the town library and the Plas foyer.

The public and press are welcome to attend.

St Peter’s Church

CHRISTMAS services in St Peter’s Church will start with quiet carols at 6pm on Sunday, 16 December, followed by the crib service (4.30pm) and Midnight Communion (11.30pm) on Christmas Eve, and Holy Communion at 8am on Christmas Day.

Dementia open day

DEMENTIA Friendly Mach is sending a warm invitation to all to a Memory Café Christmas celebration open day at the bowling club on Wednesday, 19 December, between 2pm and 4pm.

All welcome. There will be free refreshments.
