Craft fair

Planning
COUNTY planners have approved the following: Replacement of existing ATM, relocating the power and data.
Installation of new ATM cupboard with removable lid, temporarily remove four doors for the transit of ATM and to make good any disturbed furnishes, NatWest; extension of an existing health care centre, Glantwymyn Health Centre, Cemmaes Road; installation of a 12.5m high lattice mast and all associated works, Esgair Goch Staylittle, Llanbrynmair; construction of an otter-viewing hide with bat loft including viewing platform and boardwalk, Cors Dyfi Nature Reserve, Glandyfi; erection of extensions, Llwyngwern Garden Cottage, Pantperthog.
Town council
THE next meeting is on Monday, 31 October, 6.30pm, at Plas Machynlleth.
Official notice of the meeting and the agenda will be on the council’s notice board in the Plas foyer seven days prior to the meeting. The public and press are welcome.
Bro Ddyfi Gardens
MEMBERS met at the White Lion Hotel on Wednesday, 5 October.
Organisers of the recent autumn open day reported on a most successful event. It attracted many people to the Cae Glas-based gardens and raised £239.80.
Jane Salisbury (treasurer) thanked the volunteers for preparing the gardens, members and supporters who ensured a successful day and those who donated so generously.
Junior Football AGM
THE Machynlleth Hurricanes Junior Football Club hold their AGM at the Bowling Club, Sunday, 23 October, 2pm. Please come along and support the club.
Rail AGM
ON Saturday, 8 October, members of the Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth Rail Passengers’ Association (SARPA) gathered at the White Lion Hotel for the AGM.
Chairman Angus Eickhoff thanked fellow-officers and members for their support during the previous 12 months.
He noted the big increase in footfall at stations along the line and said they must continue to campaign for more rolling stock, infrastructure enhancements and that the new franchise, which is due in 2018, meets the needs of local people and visitors.
Tony Harvey’s treasurer’s report was received and approved with thanks.
Officers elected were: Angus Eickhoff (chairman), Ivor Morris (vice-chairman), Tony Harvey (treasurer), Albert Hall (secretary), Geoff Smith (minute secretary), Denis Bates (newsletter editor), Roger Goodhew (liaison officer), Robert Knight (committee member).
Cllr Michael Williams represents Machynlleth Town Council and Powys County Council.
It was agreed for annual subscriptions to remain at £8 for individuals and groups.
Macmillan success
TWELVE years ago a small group of housewives used to gather for a cup of tea in Cwrt.
The friends decided individually they should contribute to the Macmillan appeal.
On 30 September members of the same group, led by Mrs Anwen Jones, held a coffee morning at Canolfan Pennal and were delighted to raise £255.
Anwen thanks everyone who attended and those who helped on the day.
