DWYNANT, five points ahead of second-placed Penrhos A, kept a clear advantage over the rest of the field in the Dovey Valley Darts League 2016/17 after round eight. Table: Dwynant (63 points), Penrhos A (58), Foresters A (52), Red Lion (46), Bowling Club (31), Foresters B (23), Slaters (23), Penrhos B (9).

Dominoes

WHITE Horse and Wynnstay ended week nine tied on 57 points apiece in the Dyfi Valley Dominoes League 2016/17. And, following the round of closely fought matches on 9 January, only three points separate seven of the league’s nine teams.

Dyfi U3A

DYFI U3A – university of the third age – will be holding its next meeting at Machynlleth Bowling Club when, on Friday, 20 January, at 2pm, guest speaker Julie McNicholls Vale will be giving a talk on The Wardens.

Council Meeting

THE next ordinary monthly meeting of Machynlleth Town Council will be held at Plas Machynlleth on Monday, 30 January, at 6.30pm.

Formal notice of the meeting and the evening’s business will be placed on the council’s notice board in the Plas foyer. Members of the public and press are welcome to attend.

Planning

IN the period 7 December to 4 January, under Powys County Council’s scheme of delegation, county planners approved the following applications: Change of use of residential dwelling to building in connection with adjoining museum, internal works and minor alterations to rear extension, Glasfryn, Heol Penrallt, Machynlleth; erection of a garage, Y Bwthyn Gwyn, Llanwrin. Two applications for the installation of Velux roof windows and internal alterations, at Old Bank, 1 Heol Maengwyn, Machynlleth, were referred to CADW. An application for the erection of an agricultural building on land near Coed Pryfydau, Llanbrynmair, was refused.
