Panto
THE New Dyfi Players are presenting their 36th Panto production, Babes In The Wood. Mach Panto is a long-standing tradition and has been very well supported since the first panto, Dick Whittington, in 1979.Performances are on Thursday and Friday, 23 and 24 February, and two on Saturday, 25 February - all at Ysgol Bro Hyddgen.The Saturday matinee starts at 2pm (doors open 1.30pm) and evening performances start at 7pm (doors open 6.30pm).Tickets are on sale now at Miscellannea, Machynlleth.If you are interested in joining in future productions, contact Anne (Miscellannea) at 01654 703916 or [email protected]
Living expenses
A WORKSHOP will be held later this month to help share skills on reducing living expenses.
The ‘Spend Less: Live More’ workshop has been organised by Machynlleth-based charity Advice Mid Wales. Organiser Rosie Leach, the specialist debt advisor with Advice Mid Wales, said: “The Spend Less: Live More workshop will focus on skill-sharing and on simple but effective ways of reducing living expenses. This, of course, is of great importance to all of us during such difficult times.”The free session will be held on Monday, 27 February, from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, at the bowling club.Music clubTHE club presents Classic Rhythm, a unique and exciting chamber group with a difference. The concert will be held at the Tabernacl on Friday, 24 February, and starts at 7.30pm.The trio for flute, keyboards and percussion has been met with enormous success, playing to sell-out audiences all over the UK as well as broadcasting on Classic FM and BBC Radio.The concert features Adrian Sutcliffe, piano/arranger; Helen O’Connell, flute; and Chris Brannick, percussion.They will perform skilful arrangements of well-known classical favourites.
Council meeting
THE town council will be holding its next ordinary monthly meeting at Plas Machynlleth on Monday, 27 February, at 6.30pm. Details of the evening’s business will be placed on the council’s noticeboards in the Plas foyer and in front of the town library.
Carers Cymru
A CUPPA for unpaid carers event will be held at Siop a Hwb/Hub and Shop, 38 Heol Maengwyn, on Wednesday, 22 February, from 10am until 2pm.This will give a chance to catch up, take a break, have a chat, share tips and make friends. Free refreshments and cakes.
Mach Maethlon
A WARM welcome is extended to all to join Mach Maethlon at the bowling club on Sunday, 26 February, from 5pm to 7pm. You will help to celebrate the impressive achievements of Green Isle Growers, Dyfi Land Share and Edible Mach, and help to generate ideas for the year to come,The group will provide tea and snacks. Drinks available from the bar. There is also a post-meeting gathering at the White Lion Hotel from 7pm.
Tabernacle
ON Friday, 3 March, starting at 2pm, the Tabernacle-based book club will be considering Love Nina: Dispatches from Family Life by Nina Stibbe. On Saturday, 4 March 4, there will be a concert by Côr Godre’r Aran, featuring Eirian Owen, Robyn Lyn Evans and Aneira Evans.
Centre for Alternative Technology
WITH activities inspired by a love of nature and the outdoors, the centre will be ‘Showing the Love’ for our planet from 13-24 February.The Show the Love campaign is running nationwide with activities, pop-ups, creative workshops and publicity events happening throughout the month of February. Throughout half term, CAT will be running ‘For the love of…’ activities and tours designed to connect visitors to nature, our planet and each other.The central focus will be a Green Hearts Message Tree where kids and adults alike can share their love of nature through handwritten messages hung up for everyone to see.A Green Hearts Discovery Trail will encourage families to explore the centre, collecting interesting and unusual facts about UK wildlife on the way. Nature-inspired tours will engage visitors in CAT’s unique and bio-diverse landscape.
